Why does my BIOS or diagnostic program (like the one above) show that my memory is running at half frequency?

The BIOS or diagnostics usually report the memory bus frequency, which is half the frequency of DDR type memory. The DDR (Double Data Rate) data rate is twice the memory bus frequency. Therefore, if the memory bus speed is 800MHz and you are using DDR3-1600 memory, the memory is running at the correct speed.
